Rendered in a radiograph-style 3D sequence, the male brainstem is traced from the inferior diencephalon into the cervical spinal cord, with the midbrain (mesencephalon) positioned superior to the pons and the medulla oblongata tapering inferiorly toward the foramen magnum. As the camera moves through the X-ray view, the thalami sit bilaterally and superior to the midbrain, framing the rostral brainstem while the pons bulges anteriorly and the medulla lies posterior to the clivus and anterior to the fourth ventricle. Depth cues from the X-ray aesthetic help separate anterior brainstem contours from posterior ventricular spaces. Orientation stays anatomical. Clinical interpretation of brainstem anatomy lives or dies on millimeters, and this animation keeps the reader anchored as the “stem” transitions from midbrain to pons to medulla without the discontinuity that static plates often introduce.
