Description
Beginning at the distal trachea, the sequence tracks the carina as it bifurcates into the right and left main (primary) bronchi, then follows their branching into lobar (secondary) and segmental (tertiary) bronchi within the male thorax. Ring and plate cartilage is highlighted proximally, tapering as the airway divides toward bronchioles and terminal bronchioles in the peripheral lung. As the camera advances endoluminally, the bronchial tree is oriented in anatomical position, with the right main bronchus taking a more vertical, wider course than the left as it passes inferior to the aortic arch toward the hilum. Airway caliber changes are easy to track. A focal lung cancer is shown from an internal airway perspective, where localized mass effect narrows the bronchial lumen and displaces expected branching geometry, a pattern that correlates with postobstructive atelectasis and recurrent pneumonia when a lobar bronchus is compromised. Radiographic boundaries are emphasized in a stylized x-ray context, reinforcing how an endobronchial or peribronchial lesion can present as hilar enlargement or segmental collapse on chest radiograph and CT.
