Description
Viewed from directly superior to the calvaria, the animation tracks the serrated sagittal suture along the midline where the right and left parietal bones meet, then follows the coronal suture as it runs transversely between the frontal bone anteriorly and the parietals posteriorly. The bony plates remain articulated, with the suture margins interdigitating in a sawtooth pattern that becomes easier to appreciate as the camera gently shifts and settles overhead. Parietal eminences and the frontal squama provide broad surface landmarks. Fine serrations are clear. Cranial sutures are more than an anatomic curiosity, they are surgical and radiologic landmarks that help you orient quickly on scalp reflection, craniotomy planning, and cross sectional imaging of the head.
