Centered in the anterior neck, the thyroid gland is shown as paired lobes joined by an isthmus that crosses the upper tracheal rings, with the larynx and cricoid cartilage sitting superiorly and the strap muscles draped anteriorly. A malignant thyroid mass expands within one lobe, distorting the normal contour and producing a focal bulge that projects anterolaterally toward the sternocleidomastoid and carotid sheath. Over the course of the animation, the tumor volume and surface irregularity become the visual focus while adjacent landmarks, including the trachea medially and the thyroid cartilage superiorly, help orient depth and laterality.
