Description
Centered in the anterior neck, the bilobed thyroid gland is shown wrapping the anterolateral trachea, its right and left lobes connected by the isthmus inferior to the thyroid cartilage. A focal malignant mass develops within one lobe and is rendered as a discrete nodule that alters the gland’s normally smooth contour, with progressive expansion that can bulge anteriorly and displace adjacent soft tissues. As the sequence advances, the tumor’s morphology is contrasted in ways consistent with common thyroid carcinoma patterns (papillary, follicular, medullary, anaplastic, and Hürthle cell), emphasizing how a neoplasm can remain intrathyroidal or extend toward the capsule.
