Description
Cut away from above, the male cranial cavity opens onto the central arterial tree at the skull base, where the basilar artery ascends on the ventral pons and terminates near the posterior clinoid region. Arising close to that bifurcation, the superior cerebellar artery courses posterolaterally, passing inferior to the oculomotor nerve (CN III) and wrapping around the lateral mesencephalon toward the superior surface of the cerebellar hemispheres. Posterior cerebral arteries extend superiorly and posteriorly from the basilar apex, linking to the internal carotid system through the posterior communicating arteries to complete the circle of Willis. Venous drainage elements, rendered in blue, track along the dural reflections toward the dural venous sinuses along the midline and tentorial margins.
