Description
Posterior calf anatomy is presented with the skin reflected to expose the superficial and intermediate muscle groups of the crus (shank). The medial and lateral heads of gastrocnemius form the dominant proximal contour, converging inferiorly onto the broad tendinous sheet that overlies soleus, which contributes most of the calf’s mass deep to gastrocnemius.
