Presented from a posterior perspective, the distal triceps brachii converges into a broad, dense triceps tendon that passes inferiorly to insert on the olecranon of the ulna. Proximal to the insertion, the tendon lies superficial to the posterior capsule of the elbow joint and is bordered laterally by the anconeus near the posterolateral elbow. Distally, the tendon fibers flatten as they approach the subcutaneous olecranon, with the ulna positioned medial to the radial head in anatomic terms. Fiber direction is clear.
