Description
Positioned at the superior aspect of the shoulder girdle, the acromioclavicular ligament spans the anterior surface of the acromioclavicular joint, bridging the lateral end of the clavicle to the medial margin of the acromion of the scapula. From this anterior perspective, the distal clavicle sits medial and slightly anterior to the acromion, while the scapular spine continues posteriorly from the acromion toward the body of the scapula.
