Description
Anterior to posterior relationships read cleanly in this full body frontal projection, with the brain (encephalon) seated in the cranial cavity and the spinal cord descending in the midline from the foramen magnum through the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral vertebral levels. Paired cranial nerves emerge from the brainstem and course toward the face and neck, while spinal nerves exit segmentally to form the cervical plexus and brachial plexus superiorly, the intercostal nerves across the thoracic wall, and the lumbosacral plexus inferiorly. Distally, major peripheral nerve trunks track into the upper limb (median, ulnar, radial) and lower limb (femoral, obturator, sciatic with tibial and common fibular divisions), maintaining a largely bilateral, symmetric distribution. Yellow nerve rendering separates the central nervous system from the peripheral nervous system at a glance.
