Description
Arising from the proper hepatic artery at the porta hepatis, the left hepatic artery courses superiorly and to the anatomical left before arborizing within the left lobe. From an anterior perspective, its segmental branches can be followed toward Couinaud segments II and III, with a medial branch continuing toward segment IV near the falciform ligament. The vessel network sits anterior to the portal venous bifurcation in the hepatoduodenal ligament and then spreads within the hepatic parenchyma, with smaller arterioles tracking alongside portal venous and biliary radicles in the portal tracts. Depth cues are supported by the semi transparent liver, so the intrahepatic distribution remains visible.
