Description
Running along the superior eyelid, the superior palpebral venous arcade forms a gently curved channel within the palpebral tissues, coursing superficial to the tarsal plate and deep to the eyelid skin, with small tributaries draining the pretarsal and preseptal regions. Medially, venous flow converges toward the medial canthus, where it communicates with the angular vein via the medial palpebral veins, while laterally it approaches the lateral canthus and tributaries of the superficial temporal system. Orbicularis oculi fibers encircle the palpebral fissure in the anterior plane, and deeper facial muscles of mastication and the cervical sternocleidomastoid provide surrounding topographic context in this skinless head and neck rendering. Small veins dominate the field.
