Chaetomium is represented at the level of its reproductive microanatomy, centered on a perithecium positioned as the dominant spherical to ovoid fruiting body, with the ascomatal wall enclosing asci that occupy the internal cavity. Hair-like setae arise from the perithecial surface and project outward, while the ostiolar region sits at the apex as the exit point for ascospore release. Ascospores are shown contained within the asci and arranged toward the perithecial lumen, with adjacent hyphal elements implied at the periphery. Scale and depth cues keep the principal structure in sharp focus. Recognition of Chaetomium perithecia matters in environmental and clinical mycology because the genus is a frequent indoor contaminant in water-damaged buildings and a recurring isolate on culture when mold exposure is investigated.
