Interior bladder anatomy is centered on the mucosa (tunica mucosa) lined by urothelium (transitional epithelium) with its underlying lamina propria, forming rugae when the lumen is relaxed. Toward the inferoposterior floor, the smooth trigone (trigonum vesicae) sits between the right and left ureteric orifices, with the internal urethral orifice positioned inferiorly at the bladder neck. Superficial umbrella cells face the urinary space, while deeper urothelial layers rest on a basement membrane that demarcates mucosa from the detrusor muscle (muscularis) deep to it.
