Running within the base of the broad ligament, the uterine artery (a branch of the internal iliac artery) approaches the uterus at the level of the cervix and courses medially along the lateral uterine border before ascending in a tortuous path toward the fundus. Near the uterine cornu it anastomoses with the ovarian artery, while descending branches contribute to the cervix and upper vagina alongside the vaginal artery. Venous return parallels the arterial pattern via the uterine venous plexus and uterine veins draining to the internal iliac veins, with communicating channels to the ovarian veins through the suspensory ligament of the ovary.
