Description

Dominating the right upper quadrant, the lobus dexter hepatis is presented from an anterior perspective, with its convex diaphragmatic surface facing forward and superiorly under the right hemidiaphragm. The inferior border sweeps obliquely toward the right costal margin, while the leftward extent approaches the midline where the right lobe meets the plane of the falciform ligament and the smaller lobus hepatis sinister. Laterally, the hepatic contour rounds toward the right flank; superiorly it abuts the cardiophrenic region, and inferiorly it overhangs the gallbladder fossa and adjacent visceral impressions. Orientation matters because anterior surface anatomy is what you correlate first with physical exam, laparoscopy, and cross sectional imaging. Enlargement of the right lobe in congestive hepatopathy or hepatocellular carcinoma often changes the inferior margin and overall silhouette, and this view helps clinicians describe that change in standardized terms. It also supports surgical planning by anchoring surface landmarks before you turn to the porta hepatis and retrohepatic inferior vena cava. Clear boundaries. No distractions. Use this artwork for gross anatomy and abdominal surgery teaching when you need a clean reference for liver lobe nomenclature, normal contour, and the anterior relationships that guide abdominal palpation and operative exposure. It also fits well in hepatology texts and patient education materials discussing hepatomegaly, right upper quadrant pain, or liver mass evaluation in adult male anatomy. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
