Description
Sectioned at the root of the pulmonary trunk, the anterior internal surface is opened to expose the pulmonary valve and the adjacent right sinus (dextral sinus) as a pocket-like recess between the arterial wall and the valve cusp. The semilunar cusp attaches along a curved hinge line at the annulus, with its free edge directed centrally toward the lumen and its convex surface facing the sinus. Superior to the cusp, the sinotubular junction marks the transition into the tubular pulmonary trunk, while the sinus occupies the more inferolateral contour of the root on the right side in anatomical position.
