Description
Anteriorly, the os coxae fills the frame with the acetabular margin traced as a continuous rim encircling the hip socket at the junction of ilium (superior), pubis (anterior and inferior), and ischium (posterior and inferior). The sequence keeps the pelvic surface oriented to anatomical position while the rim is progressively highlighted around the acetabulum, clarifying where the anterior horn and superior weight-bearing dome sit relative to the pubic body and iliac wing. Subtle rotation and emphasis along the circumference help separate the acetabular rim from the surrounding acetabular fossa and from the adjacent obturator foramen inferomedially. That rim matters because it defines the bony boundary for the acetabular labrum and the articular lunate surface, and it is the landmark surgeons and radiologists reference when describing pincer-type femoroacetabular impingement, acetabular overcoverage, and rim fractures after posterior hip dislocation. A static anterior plate can imply a uniform circle, but an animation can pace the viewer around the margin and show how the anterior and superior segments relate to the anterior inferior iliac spine and the pubic ramus, which is where resection during hip arthroscopy must stay conservative to avoid iatrogenic instability. Small structure, big consequences. Use this clip in pelvic anatomy teaching for medical or physiotherapy curricula, in radiology modules that map acetabular anatomy to AP pelvis and false-profile views, or in orthopaedic publishing to support discussions of labral tears, acetabular version, and periacetabular osteotomy planning. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
