Transitioning from the lower cervical spine into the upper thoracic region, the T1 vertebra sits immediately inferior to C7 at the cervicothoracic junction, its vertebral body positioned anterior to the vertebral arch and the spinous process projecting posteriorly. Laterally, the pedicles and laminae frame the vertebral foramen, while the transverse processes extend to either side and the superior articular facets align to receive C7.
