Seen in a left three-quarter view, the male head and neck are rendered with the superficial musculature overlying the craniofacial skeleton and upper cervical spine. Laterally, the temporalis occupies the temporal fossa superior to the zygomatic arch, while the masseter lies inferior and anterior to the parotid region, spanning from the zygomatic arch to the mandibular ramus and angle. Around the palpebral fissure and oral fissure, orbicularis oculi and orbicularis oris form concentric rings, with adjacent mimetic muscles implied along the maxilla and mandible; posteriorly, the sternocleidomastoid courses obliquely from the mastoid process toward the manubrium and medial clavicle, with trapezius rising more posterior and lateral toward the shoulder girdle. Bony landmarks of the skull, mandible, and the superior cervical vertebrae anchor these soft tissues, and the auricle remains exposed as a cartilaginous landmark.
