Description
Presented in standard anatomical position, an adult female muscular system is rendered with superficial and selected deep muscles layered over visible osseous landmarks. Anteriorly, the sternocleidomastoid descends from mastoid process to sternum and clavicle superior to the pectoralis major, while the deltoid caps the lateral shoulder and the biceps brachii lies anterior to the humerus, continuing distally toward the radial tuberosity. Across the trunk, the rectus abdominis runs vertically on either side of the linea alba, flanked laterally by the external oblique, and inferiorly the sartorius crosses obliquely from the anterior superior iliac spine toward the medial tibia overlying the quadriceps femoris, with tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius defining the anterior shin and posterior calf, respectively. Breast tissue is shown superficial to pectoralis major, with glandular components indicated in situ. For teaching surface anatomy, this full-body view clarifies how major muscle bellies relate to palpable bony points such as the clavicle, iliac crest, patella, and tibial crest, which is the practical map used during physical examination and when describing injury patterns. Breast anatomy included over the thoracic wall supports clinical discussions of mastectomy planes, implant pocket selection (subglandular versus subpectoral), and why pectoralis major contraction can distort the breast mound after reconstruction. Clear compartment boundaries in the thigh and leg also pair well with explanations of exertional compartment syndrome and why pain can localize despite diffuse muscle involvement. A whole-body reference. Common use cases include undergraduate myology labs, nursing and allied health courses covering intramuscular injection sites (deltoid, vastus lateralis, ventrogluteal region), and medical publisher spreads on musculoskeletal overview and regional anatomy orientation. It also fits patient education materials in sports medicine and breast surgery clinics when explaining expected functional changes after injury or operative dissection. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
