Running vertically along the lateral ramus of the mandible, the deep masseter is presented beneath an intact male facial integument, with the superficial masseter head implied as the more lateral layer overlying it. Superiorly, its fibers reach toward the zygomatic arch, while inferiorly they converge toward the angle and lateral surface of the mandibular ramus, closely apposed to bone.
