Along the midline, dense thoracolumbar fascia spans from the lower thoracic region to the sacrum, covering the erector spinae mass and forming a broad aponeurotic sheet that continues inferiorly toward the gluteal fascia over gluteus maximus. Distally, fascial planes follow the posterior compartments of the arm and forearm over triceps brachii and the extensor group, then continue across the posterior thigh over the hamstrings and into the crural fascia surrounding gastrocnemius and soleus.
