Description
Semi-transparent cranial soft tissues on the left side reveal the cerebral hemispheres with prominent gyri and sulci of the cerebral cortex, while the brainstem continues inferiorly through the foramen magnum as the cervical spinal cord. Paired cranial nerves emerge from the ventral surface of the brain and brainstem, tracking anteriorly into the face and orbit and then inferiorly within the neck toward the upper thorax. More caudally, peripheral nerves radiate laterally from the cervical region into the shoulder girdle and descend along the torso as a branching network, emphasizing the continuity between the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
