Posterior trunk anatomy is rendered with partially transparent integument, exposing both kidneys as retroperitoneal organs flanking the vertebral column, the left typically positioned slightly superior to the right beneath the lower ribs. Each renal unit sits lateral to the paraspinal region, with the renal hila directed anteromedially toward the great vessels, while the ureters descend inferiorly from the renal pelvis toward the pelvic brim.
