Description
Posterior back anatomy is centered on the paired latissimus dorsi muscles, broad sheets arising from the thoracolumbar fascia over the lower thoracic and lumbar spinous processes and from the posterior iliac crest. From their medial origins, fibers sweep superolaterally across the posterior trunk, passing inferior to the scapula and converging toward the posterior axillary fold.
