Description
Across the posterior aspect of the male hand, the superficial lymphatic plexus forms a fine network over the dorsal fascia, spanning the metacarpals and extending distally along the proximal and middle phalanges. Proximally, collecting lymphatic vessels converge toward the dorsum of the wrist and track alongside the superficial venous pathways toward the distal forearm, with the distal radius and ulna providing clear bony orientation. The carpal bones, metacarpals, and phalanges remain fully exposed because the intrinsic palmar muscles have been removed, leaving the lymphatic channels and their communicating branches to stand out against the skeletal framework. Thumb positioning on the left establishes laterality for cross reference with standard anatomical position. Posterior hand lymphatics matter because dorsal collecting vessels carry much of the cutaneous lymph from the digits and hand into the epitrochlear and axillary nodal basins, a pathway directly relevant to upper limb melanoma, hand squamous cell carcinoma, and post traumatic or post operative lymphedema patterns.
