Description
Rendered as a right lateral brain with an anterior obliquity, the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem sit in anatomical position while the pial arterial tree is traced across the cortical surface. Proximally, the internal carotid artery ascends from the neck and gives rise to the anterior cerebral artery, which courses anteromedially toward the interhemispheric fissure and then sweeps superiorly around the genu and body of the corpus callosum as the pericallosal artery. More laterally, the middle cerebral artery distributes along the Sylvian fissure, while posteriorly the posterior cerebral artery curves around the midbrain toward the occipital cortex, with smaller cortical branches radiating toward the convexity.
