Description
Prominent in lateral profile, the ninth thoracic vertebra (T9) is rendered with its vertebral body anteriorly and the vertebral arch posteriorly, framing the vertebral foramen between them. The pedicle projects posteriorly from the body, and the inferior vertebral notch undercuts its caudal border, deeper than the superior notch and contributing to the intervertebral foramen with T10. Posterior elements include the laminae converging toward the spinous process, with the transverse process extending laterally for articulation with the tubercle of rib 9 via the transverse costal facet. Facet orientation follows thoracic pattern, with the superior articular process facing posteriorly and the inferior articular process facing anteriorly.
