Description
Plantar anatomy is presented with the metatarsals and phalanges forming the osseous framework while the plantar metatarsal veins (blue) course in the intermetatarsal spaces along the shafts of the metatarsal bones. Distally, these veins drain from the plantar digital venules toward the level of the metatarsal heads, then track proximally toward the tarsal region, where the venous channels converge into the deep plantar venous arch. Red arterial counterparts accompany the veins in the same neurovascular planes, creating paired vessel bundles that remain close to the plantar surfaces of the metatarsals and adjacent joint capsules. Joint surfaces are picked out in white for orientation at the metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal articulations. Clear landmarks.
