Arising from the plantar digital veins in the toes, the plantar metatarsal veins course proximally within the intermetatarsal spaces along the plantar surfaces of the metatarsals, paired with the plantar metatarsal arteries. They converge toward the midfoot to drain into the deep plantar venous arch, which lies deep to the plantar aponeurosis and in close relation to the oblique head of adductor hallucis and the interossei.
