Description
Anteriorly oriented, the maxillary lateral incisor is presented with a transparent rendering that lets you read the crown and root in relation to the anterior maxilla. The incisal edge sits inferior to the nasal aperture, while the rounded distal incisal angle contrasts with the sharper mesioincisal angle adjacent to the central incisor. Cervical to the crown, the root tapers apically within the alveolar process of the maxilla, with the root apex positioned superior to the crown and slightly distal relative to the long axis of the tooth. Neighboring maxillary teeth are visible for context, including the central incisor medially and the canine laterally. For dental anatomy teaching, this anterior perspective helps clarify a common point of confusion: the maxillary lateral incisor often shows greater morphologic variability than the central incisor, including a more pronounced distoincisal rounding and a narrower mesiodistal crown width, features that drive tooth identification and correct orientation on a typodont or in the clinic.
