Description
Beginning with the scrotal contents, the animation traces the testes (testicles) with their seminiferous tubules converging into the rete testis and efferent ductules, then wrapping posterolaterally into the epididymis along the superior and posterior pole of each testis. From the tail of the epididymis, the vas (ductus) deferens ascends in the spermatic cord, courses superiorly through the inguinal canal, then turns medially and posteriorly to enter the pelvis. Continuity is the point here: the ductus runs posterior to the urinary bladder, enlarges as the ampulla, and joins the seminal vesicle duct to form the ejaculatory duct, which traverses the prostate to open into the prostatic urethra. The penis is shown in longitudinal relationship to the urethral pathway, from the prostatic segment through the membranous urethra and into the spongy urethra within the shaft, ending at the glans. Following this tubular route matters when you are teaching, or planning interventions, that depend on where sperm transport fails or is interrupted. Vasectomy targets the scrotal portion of the vas deferens, while postinfectious obstruction often localizes at the epididymis after epididymitis; the sequential motion clarifies why pain and swelling track along the posterior testis and why patency testing must consider the entire duct.
