Description
Rotating through the female pelvis, the uterus appears as a thick-walled, pear-shaped organ positioned in the midline between the urinary bladder anteriorly and the rectum posteriorly. The animation identifies the uterine fundus superiorly, the uterine body, and the narrowing isthmus that continues inferiorly into the cervix, with the external os marking the caudal end of the cervical canal. Laterally, the uterine cornua lead into the uterine (fallopian) tubes, which course toward the ovaries at the pelvic sidewall. Relationships stay clear as the model turns. Clinically, orientation of the fundus, body, and cervix matters every time you interpret pelvic ultrasound, perform uterine sounding, or place an intrauterine device, because the angle between the cervical canal and uterine cavity changes with anteversion and retroversion. The sequence also helps when teaching the typical pathways of tubal ectopic pregnancy near the ampulla and why salpingectomy or salpingostomy must respect the proximity of the uterine artery and the mesosalpinx. Motion adds what still plates miss: you can track the continuous lumen from cervix to uterine cavity, then out through the tubal ostia, reinforcing patency concepts used in hysterosalpingography and infertility workups. Spatial anatomy matters.
