Inferior to the right lobe, the gallbladder sits in its fossa and aligns with the extrahepatic biliary tree as it courses toward the first part of the duodenum. The stomach is shown in the left upper quadrant, with the fundus tucked under the left hemidiaphragm, the body crossing the epigastrium, and the pylorus turning distally toward the duodenum. Orientation is clear. Clinical work often depends on getting this geography right: right upper quadrant pain from acute cholecystitis localizes to the gallbladder under the liver edge, while peptic ulcer disease tracks along the lesser curvature and proximal duodenum where posterior ulcers can threaten the gastroduodenal artery.
