Description

Beginning proximally at the shoulder girdle, the sequence tracks the osseous scaffold of the upper limb (humerus, radius, ulna) while layered neurovascular pathways fade in over the arm and forearm. Anteriorly, the brachial artery is followed as it courses medial to the humerus in the medial bicipital groove with the median nerve, then bifurcates in the cubital fossa into the radial and ulnar arteries that run distally toward the wrist and hand. Superficial venous routes, including the cephalic vein laterally and basilic vein medially, are visualized in relation to deeper compartments, and the major nerves (median, ulnar, radial) are shown diverging around the elbow, then continuing into their forearm trajectories. Layers change in motion. Clinically, this is the map you want when teaching why midshaft humeral fractures threaten the radial nerve in the spiral groove and why supracondylar injuries can compromise the brachial artery and median nerve at the elbow. The animated overlay clarifies changing relationships across joints, for example how the ulnar nerve passes posterior to the medial epicondyle into the cubital tunnel, a common site of entrapment that a single still frame often fails to spatially anchor.
