Description

Anterior full-body female habitus is rendered with a semi-transparent integument so the arterial tree can be followed from the thorax into the upper and lower limbs. From the left ventricle, the ascending aorta and aortic arch give rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery, continuing as axillary and brachial arteries in the arm, while the descending thoracic aorta becomes the abdominal aorta and bifurcates into the common iliac arteries and then femoral and popliteal arteries in the thigh and leg. Distal branching into forearm, hand, leg, and foot vessels is suggested by smaller caliber arterial pathways (arteriole-level detail), oriented in expected medial and lateral courses relative to major bones. Superficial veins may also be present as a secondary network, but the red arterial pathways dominate the composition. A whole-body arterial map in a female is most instructive when you need continuity, how central outflow from the heart organizes into named trunks, then transitions into clinically palpable segments and common access points. Femoral arterial puncture for cardiac catheterization, radial artery cannulation, and sites of pulse examination (carotid, brachial, radial, femoral, popliteal, posterior tibial, dorsalis pedis) all depend on the same proximal-to-distal relationships shown here.
