Viewed from a lateral perspective, the cut section passes through the lobulated seminal vesicle (vesicula seminalis) and exposes its mucosa thrown into complex, branching folds that create a honeycombed lumen. The glandular sac sits posterior to the urinary bladder and anterior to the rectum, with its superior fundus tapering inferiorly toward the excretory duct. Medially, the seminal vesicle relates to the ampulla of the ductus deferens, and the two ducts converge to form the ejaculatory duct as they course anteroinferiorly toward the prostate.
