Description
Presented in lateral profile of an adult male head with the skin rendered semi-transparent, the levator labii superioris is exposed as a vertical to oblique muscular belly coursing from the infraorbital margin of the maxilla toward the upper lip. Superiorly, its fibers lie inferior to the orbit and lateral to the nose, running adjacent to the nasal cartilages and the lateral wall of the nasal cavity. Inferiorly, the muscle blends into the upper lip within the modiolus region, sitting superficial to the maxilla and anterior to the maxillary sinus. Paranasal anatomy is simultaneously referenced, with the nasal cavity and sinus spaces color-emphasized within the midface. This side view matters because it clarifies the relationship between an upper-lip elevator and the nasal and maxillary framework that surgeons and injectors work around.
