Description
Seen in lateral profile, the cerebral hemispheres sit translucent within the cranium, with gyri and sulci readable through the calvaria and the brainstem tapering inferiorly toward the foramen magnum. From the cranial base, cranial nerves project anteriorly and inferiorly into the face, pharynx, and laryngeal region, while posterior elements track toward the upper cervical spine. Along the neck, cervical spinal nerves emerge segmentally in relation to the cervical vertebrae and reorganize into superficial cutaneous branches and deeper motor pathways, with ganglia suggested along the cervical chain.
