Description
Dorsal wrist anatomy is presented with the extensor digiti minimi tendon coursing obliquely across the posterior carpus toward the ulnar side, then continuing distally to the fifth digit deep to the dorsal fascia. A dedicated synovial tendon sheath surrounds the tendon within its own osteofibrous compartment, separated from the adjacent extensor digitorum communis tendons and bordered by the extensor retinaculum proximally. Carpal, metacarpal, and phalangeal relationships anchor the soft tissue landmarks, with the distal radius and ulna framing the radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints in the proximal field. Clear compartmentalization is the point.
