Description
Posteriorly, the cervical vertebral column is isolated in blue from C1 through C7, with the thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal segments rendered in neutral tones for orientation. From this vantage, the paired laminae and midline spinous processes form a continuous posterior roof over the vertebral canal, narrowing superiorly toward the atlas and widening inferiorly toward the cervicothoracic junction. Laterally, the articular processes sit just lateral to the laminae and step inferiorly from level to level, a useful cue for understanding facet alignment in the neck.
