Description
Posteriorly, the paired deltoid muscles form the rounded shoulder caps, their posterior fibers sweeping from the spine of the scapula toward the lateral humerus where they converge on the deltoid tuberosity. Superior to the deltoids, the trapezius spans from the occiput and nuchal ligament to the scapular spine and acromion, while the medial borders of the scapula are framed by the rhomboid major and minor. Inferior and lateral, latissimus dorsi broadens the posterior trunk and approaches the posterior axillary fold, with triceps brachii descending along the posterior arm. Midline landmarks remain readable through the muscle: the vertebral column flanked by the erector spinae. Clear alignment.
