Description
Posterior osteology of the adult male upper body is presented with the occipital region of the cranium superiorly and the vertebral column centered in the midline from the cervical spine through the thoracic vertebrae toward the lumbosacral junction. Laterally, the paired scapulae rest on the posterior thoracic wall, their medial borders paralleling the spinous processes while the spines of the scapula course obliquely toward the acromial ends at the superolateral shoulders. Curving ribs extend anterolaterally from the thoracic vertebrae, forming the posterior rib cage deep to the scapulae. Clear bony landmarks.
