Description
Quarter-sectioned testis exposes the lobulated parenchyma of coiled seminiferous tubules arranged around septa of the tunica albuginea, with mediastinum testis implied centrally where the rete testis converges. A serpentine testicular artery courses within the spermatic cord and then along the posterior border toward the mediastinum, giving penetrating branches that run in the interstitium between tubules. Superior and posterolateral to the testis, the epididymis caps the upper pole, while venous channels (pampiniform plexus) and accompanying autonomic nerves travel alongside the artery in the cord. Color separation of arteries, veins, and nerves keeps the hilar relationships legible.
