Description
Oriented from a posterior perspective, the left pulmonary artery is followed into its inferior lobar branch as it courses laterally toward the lower lobe hilum, where it divides into segmental arteries that travel with the corresponding bronchi. Proximally, the vessel lies superior to the left inferior pulmonary vein and posterior to the left atrium, then becomes more peripheral as it accompanies the bronchial tree into the basilar segments.
