Description
Viewed from a superior aspect beneath the diaphragmatic dome, the right hepatic vein is seen draining the posterior part of the right lobe toward the inferior vena cava at the bare area of the liver. The vessel courses centrally within the hepatic parenchyma, with smaller tributaries converging from lateral and inferior segments before turning medially to meet the caval groove. Adjacent hepatic venous channels are suggested, consistent with the typical arrangement of the middle and left hepatic veins lying more medial and leftward near the fissure for the ligamentum venosum. Orientation to the convex diaphragmatic surface keeps the superior liver contour and venous outflow pathway in clear relation. Short and direct. A superior perspective on the hepatic venous outflow matters when teaching segmental liver anatomy and when planning interventions that must respect the relationship between hepatic veins and the inferior vena cava.
