Anterior facial musculature is rendered in a superficial dissection style, centered on the frontalis over the forehead and continuous inferiorly with the orbicularis oculi encircling the palpebral fissure. Lateral to the oral fissure, the zygomaticus (major and likely minor by position) courses inferomedially from the zygomatic bone toward the modiolus at the angle of the mouth, lying superficial to the buccal region. Along the lateral cranial vault, the temporalis occupies the temporal fossa superior to the zygomatic arch, while the masseter forms a vertical, thickened sheet over the lateral surface of the mandibular ramus.
