Description
Frontal anatomy in anatomical position places the heart in the middle mediastinum, slightly left of the midline, with the great vessels radiating superiorly into the neck and laterally into the upper limbs. From the left ventricle, the ascending aorta and aortic arch give rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery, while venous return tracks back through the internal jugular and subclavian veins into the brachiocephalic veins and superior vena cava. Inferiorly, the descending aorta and inferior vena cava continue into the pelvis as the common iliac vessels and then into the femoral vessels of the thigh, with distal arterial and venous pathways shown in the forearm and leg. Color separation of arteries and veins clarifies directionality at a glance. An anterior whole-body cardiovascular view matters when you need to teach or plan around surface projections and central access routes rather than isolated organ detail.
