Description
Running from the profunda femoris (deep artery of the thigh) toward the anterolateral compartment, the lateral circumflex femoral artery gives off its descending branch, which tracks inferiorly along the lateral margin of rectus femoris and across the anterior surface of vastus lateralis. Superficially in this anterior view, the quadriceps femoris group is prominent, with rectus femoris centered, vastus lateralis lateral, and vastus medialis medial, while the femoral artery and femoral vein course proximally in the femoral triangle before continuing distally through the adductor canal. Distal thigh landmarks near the patella and knee joint line anchor the vessel’s trajectory toward the periarticular genicular network. Clear relationships. No guessing.
